With reference to the 2nd. paragraph of

my Despatch No. 335 of the 28th. of July, I have the honour

to inform you that the Hongkong and Whampoa Dock Company have

asked that the additional area of Military Reserve shown

coloured yellow in the attached sketch plan may be included

in the area which it is proposed to sell to the Company for an extension of their Docks and workshops, and that His Excel- lency the General Officer Commanding recognising the importance of giving a definite answer to the Company to enable them to place the whole project before their shareholders, has consent- ed to this additional land being so included and has written

for the sanction of the Secretary of State for War,

I shall be glad if you will also approach

the Secretary of State for War for his consent, on the same terms as it has already been decided to apply to the other land in Military Reservation to be released for sale to the
